Mary Gibson

This painting tells the story of a womens gathering to perform their ceremonies, at the Lake in the country called Kiritji.  The large hills and sandhills are a strong feature of this painting, and the style also reflects the painting up designs for the ceremony.

Mary was born in the “bush way” between Tjukurla and Patjarr.  During her childhood she lived in the bush with her family and they walked to Papunya and lived there for many years.  She lives in Patjarr and paints with the Kayili Artists.
