Bessie Liddle

Bessie was born at ltjiltjari and grew up  in the region with her family, who went on mustering trips around Central Australia with her stockman father.  She went to school at Hermannsburg
Bessie talks about her childhood days when she and other children and family, travelled across desert country riding on horses and camels - “before the cars, and didn’t need cars”.

She married a stockman and worked as a camp cook at the station, then during the 1970’s the family moved to Alice Springs.  She commenced painting in 1987 and began to sell her art through CAAMA shops and Jukurrpa Artists.  Her work has sold in the UK, USA and Japan.
